What is a Target Price

Informational page on Target Prices, a quick guide

Do you harness target prices?

Target prices are valuable pieces of information that indicate what a stock picker thinks the share will be worth in the near future. They can be an indication of how much potential upside remains in a stock.

At Stockomendation we endeavour to bring you the latest available target price estimates from the UK's top brokers and analysts, including the likes of JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, Peel Hunt and many more...

Target prices are not always included in a recommendation, but the majority of broker recommendations do include them. Whenever they are included, the target price can always be found on the relevant "tip" page. Lets take a look at an example:

Here we can see the broker Jefferies's opinion on Ibstock (IBST), which is a Hold from the 22nd June 2021. They have assigned a target price of 239p, which means that they expect the share price to hit 239p within the next 12 months, or just over 11% upside potential on the stock.

This is a downward revision from their previous target price estimate of 245p from 23rd April 2021. Jefferies issued 8 such opinion updates on Ibstock in 2020 alone and 4 so far in 2021.
